We kind of have this innate thing going after all these years so it’s cool to kind of stretch into some new musical spaces with elements of a DJ set that flows from track to track, but mixed with 80’s Funk vibes and jam-band flow over hardcore Country lyrics.” ![]() Lead singer and guitarist Jaren Johnston continues, “this album is a science project … constantly moving in different directions but keeping one cohesive feel throughout. “We’ve always had a lot of influences, but ultimately found ourselves thinking about what we were listening to in high school - The Meters, Stevie Wonder, Medeski Martin & Wood and John Scofield.” “As we finished the last record, we knew we were only tapping the surface with songs like ‘The Jam’ for where we could go next musically and found ourselves inspired to dive into these sounds that we had never explored before as a band,” explains drummer Neil Mason. Dropping the sonic swirl with little warning, the new album is a welcome interruption to the mundane and stress felt around the globe. They open a time capsule of their musical history together and expand on some of the grooves from COUNTRY FUZZ release with a new offering titled TABASCO & SWEET TEA via Big Machine Records. Another classic episode from the ever reliable writing team of Jim Fritzell and Everett Greenbaum, and directed by the always creative Bob Sweeney.Spending their formative years playing music together in basements and garages laid the foundation for THE CADILLAC THREE to put their own spin on each new record. Bass that manic quality that defines his character. ![]() Also, kudos to Howard Morris whose irrepressible energy gives Ernest T. Kudos as usual to Denver Pyle and Maggie Peterson (Briscoe and Charlene) whose performances are always spot-on and enjoyable to watch. As in the first Darling episode, the "boys" play it dumb with their silence and blank facial expressions when they're not singing. Earlier in the episode we get to hear the Darlings (actually "The Dillards") perform "Dooley", an enjoyable bluegrass tune that includes Andy on guitar and Briscoe on the jug. ![]() throws a rock in the window and then attempts to "serenade" Charlene using a metal gas can for a drum to back up his poetry (or rap I suppose). This leads into the scene where Ernest T. And then their failed attempt to correct the situation by rolling all the men over on their sides. Andy and Barney trying to sleep on chairs in the Darling living room while the entire family snores in unison. There are several memorable, funny scenes in this episode. Not an easy task when your dealing with (as Barney says) a "nut". that he needs to give up and quit making a "pestilence" of himself. So, Briscoe and the rest of the Darlings ask Andy to visit their homestead in the mountains to help convince Ernest T. He wants to "court her and charm her and woo her" but doesn't acknowledge the legality of a marriage officiated by the Justice of the Peace (Andy). is in love with Charlene Darling who just recently tied the knot with ex-soldier Dud Wash. This is the second episode to feature The Darling Family and the first to feature that rock throwin' mountain man Ernest T. ![]()
